Companion to Cat's 'Scene in a Post' After reading Cat's 'Scene in a Post' dedicated to Riah and Brenda griping about their respective boyfriends, I decided that there needed to be one about one of said boyfriends trying to get some advice on girls, since he is my character and not particularly knowledgable, hence this. For those that don't know, Keith is a black and gold xeno-dragon that was a 16 year old street kid some six months ago while Lloyd is a lizardman with blue and black piebald type patterning, he used to be one of the British Special Forces but wasn't good enough to get into the SAS/SBS before being grabbed for the experiements that caused this.
( Looking for advice on girls. )
Apparently cat_mcdougall finds Keith 'cute' in this scene, due to his confusion and not wanting to fuck things up, since the only 'love' he knows is rather rougher than he knows Brenda would accept. *Whoops*
In a follow up from last Thursday's post, I went in for the second interview today, had to wait around for a while because I got there way early. Ended up facing the three that would be my bosses if I got the post and got the interview from them, then had a brief hardware test. Basic knowledge, identify various bits of the computer they had with the case off in the room and reconnect the IDE and CD-audio cables and plug in the RAM. Just got a phone call through at home to say I'd got the job! *does happy dance* I've been trying to get into the IT field for years and now I've got in! They still need to sort out some things though, references, hours, CPC check, etc, but still... YEAH! Current Mood: ecstatic | | Thursday, June 22nd, 2006 | | 2:26 pm |
Job Interviews
I don't tend to update this too often, but as Cat McDougall knew, earlier this morning I had an appointment up at Joseph Chamberlain College. Which, by the way, is a bitch to find on the 50 route from town, so I may try the 8 route next time. It circles and it passes right by the college where as the 50 turns off so you end up missing the stop if you don't spot the Currys/PC World opposite. Still, I got there in time, which was a good thing given I had to back track. Had a quick tour of the college, and incidentally met a friend from when I was in Josiah Mason College, and had a twenty minute test to check basic knowledge. Long story short, the test had a few iffy questions, but I just got a phone call to say that I've a second interview, the proper one. Fun time methinks. Anyway, that's on the 30th of June, and if I get it down to pat... I'm in work. | | Sunday, June 18th, 2006 | | 1:15 am |

Monitor... scrap...
Well, I knew my monitor was dying, since it was getting darker and darker as time went on, last night, it died. Completely. Meaning it is now sitting in the corner of the room waiting to be tossed out. Meanwhile I've stolen a monitor from one of the other two computers in the room to use, and the difference in brightness is frankly, startling. 1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.( From Etc. ) | | Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 | | 1:18 am |

CSI/Guyver/DragonStar Crack!Fic Teaser
So, I mentioned in one of Cat's entries that she'd managed to spawn a crack!fic idea in my head, and here is the first draft of the first actual chapter. ( Guyver )Well, that's the start of it, Guyver US aka Sean Barker facing off against Zoanoids, humans capable of turning into monsters. Now, you've probably noticed the entry title and want to know where the CSI is, the fight eventually leads to Gil and co being called in, but I've got to get through it first, which is always fun trying to write action sequence without making any character into a Sue/Stu. Lousy Internet... Stay Up!
*Grumblegrowls* I hate when the fucking net decides to go down like that, particularly when it's working fine then just... stops receiving data through. As just bloody well happened. It kills my net for hours sometimes, though is fortunately rare. On the up side, it let me get a fair bit further on Dungeon Siege 2, but it means I've lost the last few hours for talking to others or finding stuff out or whatever, which is annoying. And what gets me is that looking at my modem software, it'll actually have the link up, as in, you know, alive, but the damn thing won't receive any data so I get absolutely fucking nothing net wise. Send it? Yeah, that seems to work, at least from the computer, receiving though... there's the problem. My vote on source? My fricking modem, my ISP or something in the middle, normally it's a case of send and not get through scenario, today though.... *growls* Today it decided that just cause it couldn't fucking get through, it was going to blame my details. My damned log on shit hasn't changed since I've been with Supanet so don't fucking well tell me that it's wrong just because you can't bloody well get data through you piece of crap! Bullshit Central
Yes that is the term for today at the East Birmingham Marauders. Though it was mostly in a good way, which is a good thing. Scenario was this, my nephew and I are going down there for a "life", I took my Fireborn stuff, both Players' Guide and GM's one, and the Lost Lore print out. Why? Because I'm the one running Fireborn there. Anyway, went down, one of my players was there and looking for some people for PCs on his game, so after finishing off his Scion character sheet, he went over making a Legend of Five Rings sheet for us, got that sorted out and dealt. By then my last player had arrived and wanted to play Fireborn, so, since three of the four players were ready, he finished his sheet with the fighting style picks and gear, then we had a fifth player join. Fifth PC player I mean. So players were like this; Me - GM Joe - Japanese Sensei Scion Chris - European Dilettante Scion (Only female character) Garry - Spanish/Italian Thug Scion Jamie - Unknown Mystic Scion (Nephew) Adam - Unknown Radical Scion Adam needed time setting his Scion up, so while he did, the other three adult --not my nephew-- bullshitted and poked fun at one another, Chris particularly cause he likes playing Shaych or female characters amongst males. At least until Jamie was taken home, since he's only 13 he ain't allowed up late mostly, particularly now he's at school. Adam was mostly done on his sheet, so basically ended up pulling a intro session out of my ass, completely given I wasn't really thinking that this week would really be a full on group RP. I had thought it'd be character sheets still, Scion finishing and Dragon doing, and some one-on-one or meeting up RP stuff to like Awaken the characters to their draconic heritage and introduce them to one another. Heh... Didn't happen What I got was four of them doing a more-or-less full on RP session and me having to wing a story and encounters and such on the hop. Had some social interaction, a fight a finding that London had gotten a lot more dangerous as of New Year, what with magic returning and with it things of it. Currently got beasts and cultists murdering people, the cult of an ancient dragon, Leviathan they call him, but that's what he resembles. Also got in an NPC Scion who is a pregen for another group or one off adventures as well, and left it there for now. I need to work up things more before next session so I at least know the outline of things. Current Mood: creativeCurrent Music: Howlin Oldies | | Sunday, August 28th, 2005 | | 12:06 am |
Day Out
So, I've been having a bit of a look for some things local for me to do, particularly RP/Game groups. I found on a week or so back that was in town, beyond the NIA and Sea Life Centre up there, however on the same page I found another group advertised, on Yardley Fields Road, well, off it in a Scouts Hut. Holy shit! 15-20 minutes walk away from me, i can get to Yardley Fields Road by basically heading straight down my road, across Blaksley Road, which it ends at and all the way down Stuarts Road. Used to do that often enough getting to the Stechford Leisure Centre as a kid. Now last Thursday I went hunting for the place, couldn't find it. They hid it in an area which looks like it's only a dirt road to some houses. Found it today and played a couple of games there. First game I played was actually one similar to the Oriental Adventures one for D&D's D20 system. That was cool, and I got a pregen chara that I liked, despite him being shit at spoting things, but all of them were. He also really needed to learn to fight/shoot in the dark, cause he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. He is fast though, which allowed me to escape another fight, and a demon ninja NPC. Second game I didn't mind, but I seriously wanted to throw my character into a snowmelt flooded river myself. He was one of those court poppin jays that get into heaps of woman trouble. However he wasn't too bad in a fight with a rock golem, he was the first one to really damage the damn thing. Distract, climb and tied to smash its eyes, shoulda tried prying them out first time though, but still... Anyway, today was fun, and I'm headin back on Thursday, so that'll be four days RPing, Wednesday via MSN, Thursday at the club, as is Saturday, then Sunday (currently) is back on MSN. I need a job and some money so I can get something else, physical preferably, maybe swordwork or something, we'll see. I will be trying to think up some character concepts for some of the systems I might play, and see if we'll be doing a campaign on that first system, if so, I wanna keep my ninja if possible, or make one similar. The Seven Seas system I need a different character on, I dislike shits like that guy, a merc or warrior however.... Random Thoughts on Demons...
... Well, amongst other things. Okay, now I'm one of those that believes we're a dragon inside, *shrugs* there's a whole group of Otherkin around, most of us are mostly normal, or as normal as anyone in this crazy world. Thing that makes this relative currently is because there's a topic on one of the dragon forums I'm a member of who wants people to help fighting against demons and stuff. Got a bit of a hot topic on the forum, which is Near to the Sky's. The demon topic itself is here. Guy reads like a Buffy/Occult fanatic yeah? *shrugs* He might be, I'm not a friend of his, nor do I know him outside of the forum. The topic gets interesting on page two though, particularly about the demons walking on earth, to which there are a few comments, including my one about not wanting to deal with things off the mortal plane. Not easily I'd bet, probably most demons that are on this plane either hide or have some way of looking human. Besides which, don't we have enough monsters actually living on earth without having to look for supernatural ones?
I mean, naming a few of the better known ones;
Jack the Ripper, The Yorkshire Ripper, The Moors Murderers, Fred and Rose West, The Boston Strangler, Dr. Crippin, Aileen Wuornos, The Acid Bath Murderer.
Those are just some of the monsters here on earth, and that's not even a fraction of the ones you could come up with if you really started checking things. The main things those have in common are that they were all as close to pure evil as you're likely to get in humans and all are fairly famous serial killers. We won't even go into the rapists, pedophiles, politicians, fanatics and terrorists.Evil incarnate? probably some of our closest, and most infamous ones. Anyways, had some more talk, which you can read in the thread, and Oni, the guy with the star avatar, posted a little bit on what he believes about how demons are spawned and what they are like. Bits fit, but to me, it doesn't read right. *Shrugs again* I tend to follow my own path mostly, though there are things in religions I agree with to an extent. This little lot is what I felt semi-compelled to write, I think it fits better, though others will disagree I'm sure. Just pay attention to the bit I enbolden here, cause it is true. Demon on this plane would be serious trouble unless you happen to have something equally powerful handy to fight the bugger. Though each is different, some weaker, some stronger, because they aren't of the mortal world, they don't play by the rules of this world.
Actually, demon is probably not a good name for such creatures, since they are basically creatures spawned of the creatures living on the mortal world, things spun out of a union of nature and chaos to represent some aspect of how mortal beings think, feel or view their universe. Hence why you get gods, demons, angels, elementals, and other things. Avatars aren't of that group, since they are usually mortals chosen by something else to become its representative on the mortal planes, usually they have an amount of power granted by that being.
Lastly, to my knowledge, there are the aspects, nature spirits, or whatever other similar names you wish to call them. They are balanced out by Chaos' own spirits, and they represent the heart of things, Gaea, our Earth, is one, Tr'wynoth, the Hreathrae Frenthryn I bowed to is another. Tr'wyn and his court are the ones that seeded Harrenthias and other worlds around it with the potential for draconic life. When humans came to my homeworld, they were one of the few such races there. From my understanding Tr'wyn took a liking to some of them and chose them to carry a seed that let them and their offspring adapt to their new homeworld, becoming more draconic over time, eventually becoming the Franthoryn, the race that spawned me, my sibs, my lifemate and other such hybrids between human and dragon.
Nature, by Herself tends to be for slow change over eons, forging a race through thousands of generations to achieve a good match to the environment in which that creature lives, she tends to balance Chaos' raw potential for change and mutation with Order's strick structuring and lack of adaptablity. Even they are created by things though, I know not what, but something spawned the elemental concepts and balances of this universe and those linked to it. Nature tends to be the one that balances at least certain forces, her children, the stars, planets, moons, other stellar objects and the aspects of the things that live upon them try to keep this balance, but they can be over whelmed... and destroyed, though a balance keeper does eventually rise again and take its place, as do those such beings keep in balance.
Sometimes though, the beings themselves cannot handle keeping their balances, their spawn, the creatures forged of things mortals feel, think, see, whatever, are unleashed, and the results can be devastating. That is why there are those called heroes, those that fight such beings. Most of the time such a person would only fight a few such creatures, or, more likely, do something to force them back by changing things on the mortal plane. Sometimes though, more is needed, and then the Aspects choose people to fight, through magic, force, will, or love, to keep things in check. Such a group was the Hreathrae Dforgrym, the Dragon Knights of which I was a part. We are avatars of a sort, but our job is to keep the balance, encouraging certain forces here, cutting those same forces back elsewhere, some of us fought the way LothaMealthra is saying, others fought by doing other things.
*shakes his head slightly* There are always Hreathrae Dforgrym around, not that name, not our abilities, but they are around, in all of us. A policeman putting himself in the line of fire to deal with a dangerous criminal, a healer fighting to keep her patient from slipping into death's clutches. The people that go out and offer aid to those that have nowhere to turn, the young child that cheers up someone that's sad in a park, the farmer that keeps on going through hardship and war. People need heroes, they need the poor sods that go out and face the great dangers, the demons and monsters, but you look inside every person around you, the hero is there, holding out, fighting to make things a little better, to keep things from becoming unbalanced.
When it comes down to it Ju, J'Karrah, LothaMealthra, Oni, the demons of the other planes aren't the only things around to fight, some of us must yes, but it doesna have to be directly, just changing a little thing. Stopping a friend from going bad, saving a child, even giving a little smile to someone, it all affects the balance of forces around us and that will affect the amount of 'demons' around as well. Your wings are DRAGON wings. Massive and covered in scales, they shimmer with strength and magic. They are the most obvious display of your power - though it runs equally throughout your heart and mind. You are uncompromising and grave, with a profound sense of justice. You have firm ideas about what is right and what is wrong and set out to fix what problems you can. You realize that you are more capable of dealing with life and evil than most, and as such you see it as your responsibility to protect those who cannot defend themselves. You have existed since antiquity and as such you are wise far beyond your years in this lifetime. While you strive for fairness and peace, if someone should steal from your cave of treasure (though not all that glitters is gold) or compromise the happiness of you or one who is close to you - they have signed their death warrant. You have a mighty vengeance and will unleash it upon such people immediately and mercilessly. Arguing with you is useless... you rarely back down and are known for holding firm in your beliefs. Sometimes you feel intensely burdened with the troubles of others... acting as a Guardian can get so wearisome. But you never give up... you see it as your life's mission. Often very introverted, you can be so smart... it's scary. Such a combination of intelligence, creativity, power, beauty, and magic is often intimidating to those around you - who are also unlikely to understand you. Arrogant, proud, over serious, and sometimes a bit greedy or obsessed with whatever treasure you choose to pursue... you have enchanted people for centuries, and will continue to do so. Hurt me, hurt those I care for, or hurt those I choose to protect, and you are corpse meat. Warrior and Guardian, I choose my friends with care, but once chosen, I would stick with them for a long time. And while I like a good argument, it would have to be very good to get me to change my opinion on things. You are a Samurai. You are full of honour and value respect. You are not really the stereotypical hero, but you do fight for good. Just in your own way. For you, it is most certainly okay to kill an evil person, if it is for justice and peace. You also don't believe in mourning all the time and think that once you've hit a bad stage in life you just have to get up again. It's pointless to concentrate on emotional pain and better to just get on with everything. You also are a down to earth type of person and think before you act. Impulsive people may annoy you somewhat. Main weapon: Sword Quote: "Always do the right thing. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest" -Mark Twain Facial expression: Small smile What Type of Killer Are You? [cool pictures] brought to you by QuizillaSome truth, some fiction, fairly close in some ways though. You are an earth Dragon! You have a knack for Nature or animals, and are peaceful, careful, charming, and optimistic. You can throw a tantrum now or then, but who doesn't? You value simple things in life, such as friends, family, and Nature. What elemental dragon are you? brought to you by QuizillaUh... True enough I guess.
